The medium of advertising is changing over time. The Internet is now within everyone’s reach. Research
by IPSOS EYE Tracking showed about 55% of the television ads go unseen. YouTube is a hybrid
combination of search engines and social media. YouTube is uniquely positioned to reach an incredibly
wide range of internet users. Over 2 billion people use YouTube. With traditional television advertising,
you need a decent chunk to even be considered. With YouTube advertising, you can generally expect to
pay around a dollar per view, depending on factors, such as your keywords and target audience.
YouTube is allowing business owners to creatively use a minimal budget but still get their business’s
name out there. This would never be a possibility for traditional advertising. Based on product and
brands YouTube offers 6 types of ads. They are Bumper Ads, Display Ads, Overlay Ads, Skippable Video
Ads, Non-Skippable Video Ads, Sponsored Cards. Bumper ads are very effective, it’s a 6-second long non
-skippable YouTube ads format. Display ads appear at the right of the featured video and above the
suggestion list. Overlay ads are semi-transparent. They show up on the lower portion of the playing
video. Skippable video ads allow the viewer to skip your ad, but only after the first 5 seconds. The ads
are inserted either before, end or during the selected video. Non-skippable ads must be watched before
the selected clip may be viewed. Sponsored card ads are used to display content that could be relevant
to the selected video. A good example of this would be an ad for products featured in the selected
video.
Just making a video ad on YouTube does not end the work. Proper SEO is required to deliver this ad to
everyone. To optimize videos we need to use proper keywords. Video title and thumbnails are crucial. It
attracts viewers. The video description gives the message to the viewers. According to Google, the
official character limit for YouTube video descriptions is 1,000 characters. And while it’s okay to use all
of that space, remember that your viewer most likely came here to watch a video, not to read an essay.
These factors may seem a bit complicated and time-consuming but remember: The time people spend
watching YouTube on their TV has more than doubled year over year. There’s an audience to be
discovered there, and when you optimize for YouTube, your chances of being discovered increase.
